In 1972 Skip and Linda Stewart started Stewart's De-Rooting & Plumbing in Santa Barbara, Ca. with one service truck working out of their home. Skip ran service calls while Linda answered the phones, dispatched them to Skip over a C.B. radio and handled all of the accounting. In addition to daily plumbing and sewer service Skip participated in industry conventions and exhibitions, and continues to attend the Nashville Pumper show every year.

Michael MacEachern, Skip and Linda's son-in-law, has been working closely with Skip since 1997 and heads the industrial crew. He oversees all of the municipal and industrial trenchless, manhole, storm drain and sewer repair and combination hydro cleaning. In addition to municipalities, Mike and his crew repair residential sewer lines specializing in pipebursting and air inversion.

John MacEachern joined Stewart's as a drain serviceman in 1998. He now works closely with Mike and the industrial crew doing TV inspections, hydro cleaning and trenchless repair.

Stewart's has a wide range of capabilities in servicing municipal, commercial and residential needs; from cleaning, clearing and video taping sewer lines to line locating and repairing sewer, gas and water lines. For large diameter and long lines, such as storm drains, we have a tractor mounted locator and camera. Along with cable machines for clearing sewer lines 1 ½'' in diameter to 4'' in diameter we have hydro jet equipment for cutting through roots, grease, sand and stones and flushing the debris out of the line, leaving it 100% clean. Our hydro jet equipment can clean lines from 1 ½'' in diameter and up with 4000 psi. Our Vac Con hydrovac, combination cleaning machine, combines both hydro jetting at 3000 psi and vacuuming in one machine. Instead of flushing debris down the line it will vacuum it out. The hydrovac is perfect for lines 6'' in diameter and up.

Trenchless technologies such as pipebursting and air inversion (CIPP), along with spot repairs, are among the services we provide for sewer lines and storm drains of various lengths and sizes. With these services performed by our specialized crew, sewer service usually resumes the same day. The only digging required is an entry and exit pit, leaving landscaping untouched.

Stewart's has been rehabilitating manholes throughout California by using the Perma-form and Perma-cast systems for over 20 years. John Redner of the L.A. Sanitary District highly recommends Stewart's for any manhole repair and/or maintenance. We have worked with and serviced Sanitary Districts from Oakland to San Diego.
